Long Key State Park and Indian Key State Park

– TAKEN FROM AN OLD EMAIL OF MINE – 2007 –

We also wandered upon Long Key State Park. We ended up canceling one of our nights at Bahia Honda and two nights at a county park in Palm Beach so that we could stay here for two nights. Beautiful! All sites are on the ocean and each has it’s ownbeach access. We had site #52, but they’re pretty much all the same. Each site is locatedon the water and has it’s ownpath that takes you to the water. They offer canoeing, bike riding, hiking, swimming…
This turned out to be Brad’s favorite place to camp. Campground pictures below:

We drove one day to Mile Marker 77.5 to Robbie’s Marina and rented a kayak and went across to Indian Key(about a 20 min. journey). It’s a state park that sits on 10 acres. Lots of history there. We snorkeled on the ocean side. There is lots of erosion to the coral around the island and it created little caves at the base of the key. I wish I had a waterproof camera with me! We had a great time. The marina has a nice little restaurant where we had a good lunch, gifts for sale, boat rentals, etc. A nice little area.

This is the area where we snorkeled off of. The ground is like coral. Swim Shoes or some other sort of foot protection is a must!

This is one of the old “roads” from when the island was inhabited:

p.s. there is absolutely noooo TV reception in the Keys! 🙂
