If you’re looking for ideas for senior pictures in Greeley, Colorado, you don’t have to look very far. Greeley has a surprising amount of variety, from parks and natural areas to colorful downtown spaces and locations that can incorporate the things your senior loves.
As a Greeley senior photographer, I’ve photographed seniors throughout the city, and one of my favorite things about photographing senior portraits in Greeley is that every session can look completely different.
Here are a few real senior sessions I’ve photographed in Greeley that show just how much variety we can create.
John: Basketball, Nature and Downtown Greeley
John, a University High School senior, wanted his senior pictures to include one of the things he loved most: basketball.
We started at a Greeley park with a basketball court, where John brought his basketball and his collection of basketball shoes. Rather than simply taking a few traditional pictures of him playing basketball, we used those details to create more creative and personal portraits.
His family even got involved. His mom, dad and sister assisted me during his session, which made the experience even more fun and personal.
From there, we headed to Signature Bluffs Natural Area for a completely different look. The natural setting gave us a chance to create portraits that felt more relaxed and outdoorsy.
We finished downtown Greeley in an area I call “Music Alley.” The colorful, urban setting gave us yet another look and was the perfect way to wrap up his session.
Three very different settings. One senior. And a session that actually told us something about him.
Bella: Gardens to Downtown
Bella, a Roosevelt High School senior, also got variety in her senior pictures.
We started at Houston Gardens, where the setting gave us beautiful natural surroundings and a softer look.
Then we headed to downtown Greeley and the Warehouse District, an area I love for its more urban feel. The contrast between the gardens and downtown gave Bella two distinctly different looks during the same senior session.
This is one of the reasons I don’t believe every senior needs to have the same type of session. Your locations should work with your personality, your style and the things you want your senior pictures to say about you.
Alexis: Fall at Homestead Park and Downtown Greeley
When I photographed Alexis, a Union Colony senior, I wanted to give her plenty of variety, so we chose Homestead Park for part of her session.
Because we photographed her in the fall, the season itself became part of the look. The park gave us a completely different backdrop than what we could create downtown.
Then we headed into downtown Greeley for another change of scenery.
I love combining a natural location with an urban setting because it gives a senior more than one “look” without making the session feel like a collection of unrelated photographs.
Moses: Glenmere Park and the Greeley Warehouse District
Moses, a Valley High School senior, started at Glenmere Park and then we headed to the Greeley Warehouse District for a completely different look.
We started at Glenmere Park, which gave us a more natural setting with plenty of room to move around and create a variety of images.
From there, we headed to the Greeley Warehouse District for a completely different feel.
The contrast worked beautifully: nature in one location and a more urban, architectural setting in the other.
What Makes a Great Greeley Senior Picture Location?
The best location isn’t necessarily the one that looks the prettiest in a photograph.
It’s the one that helps tell your story.
Maybe you’re an athlete like John and want your sport to be part of your senior portraits. Maybe you love being outdoors. Maybe downtown feels more like you. Or maybe you have several completely different sides of your personality that you want your pictures to show.
That’s why I don’t approach senior sessions with a one-location-fits-everyone mindset.
We can use locations throughout Greeley to create different looks and incorporate the things that make you, you.

- Houston Gardens

Senior Pictures Don’t Have to Look Like Everyone Else’s
When you look through senior photography on Pinterest or Instagram, it’s easy to see the same poses, the same types of locations and the same general style repeated over and over.
Your senior pictures don’t have to look like that.
The goal isn’t to find the most popular location and recreate someone else’s photos.
It’s to find locations and ideas that make sense for you.
That’s why I start by getting to know my seniors and what they enjoy. From there, we can build a session that includes the places, activities, interests and styles that make their senior portraits personal.
And if you’re graduating from a Greeley high school, you don’t necessarily have to stay within the school or neighborhood where you spend most of your time. We can explore Greeley and create a senior session with several different looks.
