New location. Same tradition. New memories made.

Every summer kicks off with one of my favorite traditions: Carol’s Crew’s Red, White, and Blue session. It’s usually the very first shoot of the year with the new team, and it always ends with a picnic and lots of laughter. This year, we mixed it up in the best way.

We used a brand new spot for this session. Well, kind of.

This location has been one of my fall favorites for a few years. But during one of those autumn shoots, I had a lightbulb moment. There’s a red barn on the property with an American flag painted on the side. Add the mountains in the background and a lake right in front, and suddenly I couldn’t stop picturing it for this session.

I try to rotate locations for my annual shoots so it doesn’t get stale for girls who return year after year. Using this spot gave us a completely fresh feel, even with a familiar theme.

The girls showed up in their red, white, and blue outfits ready to kick off the year. We captured fun group shots, some stunning individual portraits, and then wrapped up the night with a casual picnic. I always provide the food and cover the location fees so the girls can just relax, have fun, and enjoy the day without any worries. Blankets in the grass, snacks, and tons of smiles. It was the perfect way to start the season.

This group is already full of energy and connection. I can’t wait to see how this year unfolds for each of them.
